Horizon Performance Technologies recently designed, built, and completed a Paint Finishing System for a Midwest furniture supplier. This finishing system integrates the Torrent and Cyclone Technology™ to bring the most energy efficient process. The Torrent Washer™ and Cyclone Ovens™ use only 25% of the energy compared to conventional technology. The water spray usage is 30% of conventional technology and therefore reduces both air and water emissions. Our customer is able to clean and coat the parts better at a lower total cost of equipment ownership. New concepts were implemented in this design such as the Oil Coalescer and Zirconium Sand Filter to allow for better part cleaning and reduced water usage.

A standardized salt spray test (ASTM B117) was performed on this equipment. This test is used to measure corrosion resistance by exposing a steel substrate to elevated temperature salt spray. A key to superior salt spray test results is top-quality surface preparation. Some manufacturers are satisfied with acceptable results with 200 to 400 hours of salt spray. Horizon Torrent Technology™ cleaning and surface preparation achieves exceptional salt spray test results in excess of 2,500 hours.
