Mechanical Designer

Horizon Performance Technologies LLC is an OEM engaged in the design and manufacturing of industrial capital equipment in the heat processing industry including ovens, washers, and material handling. Horizon Performance Technologies LLC is currently seeking a Mechanical Designer to join our team.

Selected candidates for this position will be trained to mechanically design and detail project drawings for industrial ovens and washers. This list of responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other responsibilities as management may deem necessary.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge and some experience with SolidWorks or other 3D modeling software
  • Knowledge and some experience with AutoCAD or other 2D drawing software
  • Lean Manufacturing experience a plus
  • Skilled using spreadsheet and word processing software
  • Ability to work independently
  • Attention to detail
  • Capability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills

Education:

  • Associate degree in mechanical engineering, engineering technology
  • Related field or related industrial experience is a plus

Responsibilities:

  • Support new product development projects
  • Analyze, develop and test designed equipment to meet specified customer requirements
  • Execute customer orders and configure equipment appropriately based on customer requirements
  • Design and 3D model machine components and process systems in SolidWorks
  • Prepare and review designs and detailed drawings, collaborating with Manufacturing and Sales teams
  • Select components, assemblies and materials based on technical information from customer requirements and vendor offerings
  • Generate and release full bills of material for manufacturing
  • Support the procurement process for parts and components
  • Support the Engineering Change Request and Change Order process
  • Identify non-conformances and root causes to initiate and implement solutions
  • Perform other duties as required, including lab testing or field service, with ability to travel occasionally as back-up support
  • Engage with external partners (suppliers, fabrication shops, engineering consultants) to produce cost effective and timely solutions
  • Communicate with internal & external customers on troubleshooting / support of equipment and systems
  • Investigate and research new technology available to apply to new and existing products
  • Identify & execute improvements for equipment designs and execution processes within the department
  • Support the Sales Team with technical information and discussions where required
  • Participate in cross functional teams to address and resolve manufacturing, design, and quality problems, and to ensure the continuous improvement of processes and methods
  • Stay current and informed of new developments in industry and new parts or methods to improve products or product designs
  • Occasional travel to vendor or customer sites
  • Occasional weekend work
  • Employ safe work practices and PPE
  • Complete special projects, as assigned
