Robertshaw 780-845 Intermittent Pilot

The switch or thermostat is used to demand for heat to supply power to the ignition control. Once the ignitor heat-up ends, the gas valve opens to supply gas to the main burner. After that, the ignitor is turnoff and sensor is energized. The system continues to operated as long as there is a flame.
